ok i was breezing through Dothan today coming south to the north.  On 231....  A crossroad?? Hit the circle or keep going noth on 231{oates}??? easy choice. I wanted to see DHS . Maybe I needed to see DHS. I bypassed the dreadful circle and went through town.  i wanted to see DHS. I really dont think a day goes by that i dont think about that place, more impotantly, the poeple who were in that place: the classmates, the teachers, the memories. Oh what a special place in time. Now i am not so idealistic to believe everyone feels the same way as i do. James Taylor talks about going back to his home. "Tried to go back if i could." Well i go back, every day. I go back to you!!! Everyday!!!! i love  you.  I cherish the day when we ill see each other again. .

Thanks very much to all of those who worked on the decorations and preparations for the 45th Reunion and also to Debbie for keeping our website up to date. So good to see classmates and friends from near and far and even a few that had not been before.  Best wishes to all.

Are we still having a 45th this year?  Is it still on the 27th of June?  Please keep me updated.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I am still working/teaching in Germany with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools at Vogelweh ES.  My plans are to retire in 2018 with 30 years of Federal Service on Oct. 1, 2017.  Blessings to all!

well.......on a cold fall day in Birmingham, sitting and viewing the pictures of our
comrades who have already passed away, I feel comforted, somehow, knowing they await us in the great by and by....and knowing that they have braved already, the thing we all fear the most.........

As a class we have certainly experienced so many losses within our family and extended families.  I continue to appreciate so much the love and care that each of you share.  My heart goes out to Jane Brown Teal.  Her husband Jerry was a really fine man.  Gary Ferguson lost his brother last week.  He too took notice that we are a caring class.  Recently Don Norby and I had a long conversation outside his father's home about family, classmates, and Dothan as we knew it growing up.  His beautiful daughters were "privileged" to hear our old stories.  Don's dad had just passed, and here comes Gayle McCloud Parsons bringing up  goodies.   I think I love you all more each day.

I also want to thank Debbie for the great job she has done.  Seeing everyone at the monthly lunchesvia pictures, makes me wish I could also be there. Getting back to work after surviving throat cancer, watch a sister have her ups and downs with cancer, lay a family member to rest, and have a great family reunion with 55 members of my expanding family. So it has been a busy year. See you in 2015, if not sooner.

Thanks to Debbie for maintaining and updating the website. The pictures and comraderie at the monthly luncheons are great and the conversation never ends. For those near and far, at least we can see our classmates still enjoying time together. Just because the great 1970 Reunion is almost a year old doesn\'t mean that we shouldn\'t use the website to stay in touch. Facebook is fine, but our site is ours alone for our folks. Let\'s use it. Especially for those of you who are distances away, let us know what\'s going on in your life. Best wishes to all.

That makes three, from the Class of 70, Philis Barfield, Danny Lathem, and now James,  that are gone now, that I started school at Rosehill with.  I played, at one time or another, at each one of their houses.  I remember playing football, with James,  and a large group of others, in the field beside his house.  I later delivered The Dothan Eagle to his parents.

On the Monday that Danny enrolled at Rosehill, I rode to school with him and his Dad.  There was some question if  Danny would go to Grandview or Rosehill.  Well, because everyone saw me walk in with them, I was asked, almost by the whole class, who he was.  the first male to ask about Danny was James.  That was after almost the entire female population, of sixth grade, asked me first about Danny.

Now for the rest of the story:  I received a call, the next saturday, from James and Randy, asking Danny\'s phone number.  They wanted Danny to go see a movie with them.  I acted like a childish fool and told them that Danny\'s Father would not let him go to the movies.  I did that because I was not asked to go with them.  Danny, Randy, and James, because I know you will get this, \'Sorry I was such a hurt child\'.  I should have said that then.

Point 1: Danny L., in first grade, was taller than me.

Point 2:  Danny S. had to live across the street from me for several years.

Point3:  All enjoy the reunion.  I will be somewhere over the Pacific, saturday night, heading to San Diego.

O.K.  I admit it.  I had too much fun.  I\'m still shy and almost backed out of going.  I\'m so glad that a few sweet e-mails right before the deadline convinced me otherwise.  Thank you so much to everyone who had any part in it.  I\'ll never forget it and all of you!

In looking at and laughing at the Flashback section of our website, I think that I remember Ronald Ready being sent home for wearing bell bottom pants to school. If my memory is correct, Danny Watson got sent home for wearing plaid pants to school. Good \'ol Archie Trawick!

I am so sorry to hear about James.  If I remember correctly I first met James in the 1st grade at Rose Hill Elem and we ran into each other periodically over the years.  God bless James and his family.

I didn\'t graduate w/ the class of 70, (my mother had brain aneursm  when I was a Junior ,and I missed too many days caring for her to finish the year ), but the older I get the more I think of my classmates , and "school days".  I want to thank Jeff Bauman for the  invitation to the upcoming reunion, but a special thank you for the many kind words .It was really nice talking with  Jeff after all of these years. I won\'t be in attendance due to surgery planned for June 3 , but I do appreciater the invitation .  I pray everyone is well, and I hope everyone will have a grand time "visiting" with one another.

Very thoughtful message from Terry. I won\'t ever forget Slaughter down on one knee in his designer suit visiting with the late Gary Mims in his wheelchair at the 30th reunion. They probably weren\'t close friends at DHS, but Terry was reconnecting. That is what these events are all about. We\'ve seen classmates come from Spain, Germany, Wyoming and other distant places, yet many who live right here in Dothan won\'t drive across town to see old friends or perhaps connect with someone who we didn\'t know well in school. If the 1969 class can turn out as many as they did, certainly we can as well. Obviously, there are legitimate reasons why some can\'t come. And there are no reasons why others won\'t. We should all make 1 or 2 more calls or send a few emails to get as many of our gang together as possible. There is only one Class of 1970 and we are it.

Friends. Thinking of being able to connect with many of you is, for me I must admit, quite exciting.  I have always believed it to be a divine plan that individuals become connected. Now you can debate that I am sure. Agree or disagree. But the fact remains that we are connected.  True, some connections were never solid or strong. And some connections like an electrical connection have become frayed or rusty, but we are still connected. And the thought that we can reconnect, physically or even virtually, is to me a blessing and an opportunity. No telling what will come from this reconnection if we embrace it. I  belief we can as a class perhaps even accomplish something significant together. Perhaps a cause? Who knows.Maybe we rally around the maypole of significance and together make a change in something. Who knows? But we were brought together many , many years ago and now we are reconnecting. I for one believe it is no accident. We now have even more wonderful tools to keep us connected. let\'s use them. this site, this message board, facebook and even pen and ink letters. But let\'s take the time to talk and truly reconnect. And let\'s even celebrate the truth that we have shared a part of life together and perhaps now we can even do something meaningful together. Anyway something to think about. I love you all. terry

Guys:  The verdict is in and I will not be able to attend this time.  Thanks to everyone who has worked on the reunion.  I hope to see all in ten years, five if we decide too, or I will be in under the Alabama soil just off of Hwy 52 West.  Either way I will be happy.

All be good.

I am so looking forward to this reunion, the last one  I attended was the 10th. I am sorry I missed the others.  Most of my family  is now scattered through the Carolina\'s and Florida,  so my wife and I may settle in Dothan upon retirement. Our 3 sons will go wherever they feel they need to be.

Hello Everyone, What a trip down memory lane, some of you all the way back to Selma Street Elem. Although I didn\'t graduate with the class, I have enjoyed the updates and appreciate the efforts of the reunion committee. My beloved husband of 39 yrs. passed away last yr. I have 3 grown children, all in the Dothan area. Tommy and I moved back to the area a few weeks before his death so I have had the support of my children during this difficult time. Thanks to the committee for keeping this site updated, have fun at all of the activities.
